The Direct Vision Standard (DVS) is new safety legislation from the TFL Safety Lorry Scheme, created to improve the safety of all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
From 26th October 2020, according to the TFL Safer Lorry Scheme, HGVs over 12 tonnes gross vehicle weight will need a Safety Permit to enter Greater London.
Currently, vehicles with zero star rating require a standard DVS kit to fully comply.
(*Zero to 2 Star rating HGVs (vehicles with the poorest direct vision) will need a Safe System PSS 2024 kit fitted by October 2024 to apply)
3 to 5 Star rated vehicles can apply without the need to provide further evidence.
The DVS safety standards came into effect on 26th October 2020 (although new updates for enforcement and charges have been made to be implemented by 24th
Zero Star HGVs without a Safe System fitted will be banned.
HGVS WITHOUT PERMIT ENTERING GREATER LONDON WILL BE FINED UP TO £550 PER DAY.
